В нью-йоркском Готэм-холле прошел третий Love Ball, организованный Американским советом модных дизайнеров при поддержке M.A.C. Мероприятие, направленное на сбор средств для борьбы со СПИДом, является совместной инициативой CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, Нью-Йоркского фонда борьбы со СПИДом и The New York Community Trust. Love Ball стал третьим по счету. Первые два бала проходили в зале «Роузленд» в 1989 и 1991 годах, где собирались представители высокой моды и знаменитости бальной культуры, в том числе гости из культового парижского дома Дюпри. Организаторам балов удалось собрать более 2,5 миллионов долларов на программы для людей с ВИЧ-инфекцией и СПИДом. Love Ball III в том числе отметил месяц прайда. Оргкомитет мероприятия возглавила Сюзанна Барч – легендарный нью-йоркский продюсер и фандрайзер, которая основала The Love Ball в 1989 году.

25 июня участники бала сразились в шести категориях: Move to the Groove, Show Stoppers, «С ног до головы», «Зрелищные волосы», «Красота и лицо» и «Битва легендарных домов». Победители получили трофеи, придуманные современными художниками. Брайан Доннелли (KAWS), Кенни Шарф, Люси Додд, Рауль де Нивес, Джек Пирсон и Тони Урслер превратили шестиметровые статуэтки в уникальные произведения искусства. Судьями вечера стали Дита фон Тиз, Марк Джейкобс, Патрик Старр, Ники Хилтон и другие выдающиеся деятели, поддерживающие Love Ball. В роли церемониймейстера выступил Билли Портер, звезда сериала Pose, чья роль будто бы перенеслась в жизнь.
