Глава Instagram Адам Моссери заявил в эфире радио BBC, что вскоре платформа серьезно займется надзором за нежелательным контентом и расправится с кибербуллингом. В эфире Radio 1 Newsbeat Моссери призвал публиковать больше отзывов о работе приложения, так как они напрямую влияют на обновления соцсети. «Буллинг существует уже давно, но он изменился, развиваясь вместе с Интернетом. И конечно, буллинг в Instagram набирает особые обороты. Как и многие другие вопросы, решение которых выходит далеко за рамки простой доработки приложения, мы упускаем эту проблему. Мы не хотим, чтобы люди впадали в депрессию, используя Instagram, но мы не можем удержать пользователей от того, чтобы они говорили плохие или грубые вещи. Но мы работаем над поиском решения и стараемся выдержать баланс», – прокомментировал Моссери.

Он также рассказал, что расстроился, когда третья по количеству фолловеров звезда Instagram Селена Гомеc удалила инстаграм-аккаунт из-за негативных комментариев (позже Гомес восстановила профиль) – в интервью подкасту Dream To Real певица объяснила, почему это сделала, и также поделилась мнением о негативных сторонах Instagram. «Мы должны убедиться, что такие креаторы, как Селена, получают удовольствие от платформы, чтобы они не впадали в депрессию из-за нее. Инструменты, которые мы разрабатываем, должны одинаково эффективно работать как для 15-летнего мальчика или 14-летней девочки, так и для более взрослой аудитории», – сказал Моссери.

Ранее Моссери обсуждал способы регулирования безопасности в Instagram с министром здравоохранения Великобритании Мэттью Хэнкоком. Встреча произошла после самоубийства 14-летней Молли Рассел, чья смерть, предположительно, спровоцирована снимками и видео, связанными с суицидом, которые предлагали ей алгоритмы соцсети. По словам Моссери, чтобы максимально застраховать пользователей, в приложение внедряются «экраны чувствительности», которые размывают изображения и видео, на которых есть признаки насилия и суицида.
